Audiology Marketing · Australia

Marketing for Independent Audiologists and Hearing Clinics

Independent audiologists compete with national networks that advertise $0 hearing aids to eligible pensioners, and hearing test clicks are among the priciest we checked in allied health. You can't outspend them on every search. You can be clearer, more local and much harder to confuse with a sales floor.

Honestly can't recommend Digital Marketing Tribe enough. They are so easy to work with, they understood the identity I wanted with my brand and executed. Since taking on my SEO, Theva has grown so quickly. In just 3 months, about 2 out of every 3 of my leads now come directly from Google, and I constantly get compliments on how good my website looks from other business owners and customers. They've made the whole thing completely stress-free and the results are snowballing every month. Thank you team!

Hearing care gets lumped in with general healthcare, but it doesn't behave like it. A patient might have put off a test for a long time. Their adult child might do the research for them. The purchase can involve a government voucher, a private top-up and a device they will wear every day for years.

Marketing has to respect all of that. This page sets out what Australian search data shows and how we would use it across SEO, Google Ads and Meta Ads. We don't currently have an audiology client, so what you get here is research you can check, plus the closest health results we have.

What We Found

What Australian hearing search data shows

Four patterns from Semrush's Australian database.

A test click costs more than a device click

"Free hearing test" is about US$8.65 a click and "hearing test near me" US$7.29. "Hearing aids", with 9,900 searches, is about US$1.75. Advertisers appear to pay most for the search closest to a booking.

Overseas sites hold "hearing test"

Of the top 10 results for "hearing test", only one was an Australian site. Most offer online checks from manufacturers or foreign health bodies. The "near me" version has the same 4,400 searches, at a far lower difficulty of 36.

Funding is a search in its own right

"Hearing services program" gets 2,900 searches a month at a difficulty of 29. People want the rules explained, and an independent clinic can answer them plainly.

There are lower-stakes ways in

"Earwax removal" gets 1,900 searches and "microsuction" 590, both at easy difficulty scores. A small appointment can be how a patient first meets your audiologist.

The Landscape

The challenges hearing clinics face

Most of them come from competing against bigger brands with different economics.

National networks set the price story

Networks publish $0 offers for eligible pensioners. Your marketing has to explain what's actually included and what independent advice is worth, without making misleading comparisons.

Eligibility trips people up

A Commonwealth Seniors Health Card doesn't qualify someone for the Hearing Services Program. An enquiry built on that mistake wastes the patient's time and yours, so the website should sort it out early.

Two people are often deciding

The person with the hearing loss may not be the person searching. Copy has to work for a reluctant patient and for a worried son or daughter.

Different rules apply

Audiology isn't regulated by Ahpra, but hearing aids are included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods as medical devices, and consumer law still applies. "Not Ahpra" doesn't mean anything goes.

How We Help

What each channel can do for an independent clinic

Each channel has its own page with the detail.

SEO for audiologists

Local rankings, an honest funding guide and pages for the first appointments people look for.

Google Ads for audiologists

Careful bidding on the costly searches, with landing pages that qualify voucher and private patients.

Meta Ads for audiologists

Reach people before they search, and test creative for family members, without implying anyone has hearing loss.

Our Evidence

What we can show you today

We don't have an audiology result to show you. Our closest published result is THEVA Remedial, a new allied health clinic that took 220 appointments in its first 90 days. Transform Orthodontic Care, an orthodontic practice whose work with us began during the pandemic, recorded 403 Google Ads conversions at $22.03 each over four months. Orthodontics is also a considered purchase with real money attached. Neither has a voucher scheme, so we would build and test that part of your funnel from scratch.

What You Get

Built for an independent, not a network

  • Plans start from dated search data for your market, so you can see the reason for every recommendation
  • Funding and eligibility copy checked against the Department of Health's published rules
  • Enquiries tracked by type, so voucher, private and earwax bookings aren't blended into one misleading number
  • Google Ads spend paid directly to Google and never marked up
  • SEO, Google Ads and Meta Ads run together, so each channel learns from the others

Keyword and ranking figures: Semrush Australian database, checked 6 November 2026. Volumes, difficulty scores and click prices are Semrush estimates, and click prices are shown in US dollars. Rankings are a national snapshot, so local results will differ. Voucher rules: Department of Health, checked 6 November 2026. Device advertising: TGA.

Common Questions

Audiology marketing, answered

Can an independent clinic really compete with the national chains?

Not on every search, and we wouldn't try. The realistic wins are local rankings, funding questions, low-difficulty first-visit searches and a clear reason to see an independent. That's narrower than the networks' plan, and much cheaper.

Should we advertise a free hearing test?

Only if it's genuinely free, the terms are stated and your funnel makes money at about US$8.65 a click (Semrush's estimate). We would work that out with you before spending anything.

Do you already work with audiologists?

Not currently. Our closest published result is an allied health clinic, THEVA Remedial, and this page is research rather than results from your field.

Is the market big enough to justify this?

The searches on this page are national, so your catchment will be a fraction of them. Your free audit looks at your actual area, and we will tell you if the numbers don't stack up.
